The Wise Mind Concept

Logic, meet Emotion.

You can't think your way into feeling better, but you can feel your way into thinking better.

If you have spent years solving problems by thinking harder, you already know where that runs out. Reason on its own gets rigid. Emotion on its own gets chaotic. The Wise Mind is what happens when the two work together.

That synthesis is a set of neural circuits, and circuits are built through practice. Years of high threat sensitivity taught your brain to read ordinary life as danger. The same mechanism runs in reverse. Our work is retraining the circuits producing your symptoms, which is what makes the change hold.

Leadership

The Founding Team

Neither of us arrived at this work from the outside. Danielle and Elijah both came through their own recoveries, using many of the same approaches this practice is built on, and both still practice them daily. Fourteen years of clinical experience sits behind the work. The starting point was personal.

Good therapy should work itself out of a job. We use evidence-based approaches that target the mechanism generating your symptoms.

The Operating Model

A Curated Clinical Standard.

We are not a volume clinic. We are a center of excellence. To ensure absolute privacy and clinical autonomy, we operate exclusively as a private-pay practice. This allows us to focus deeply on a select number of clients rather than insurance mandates.

Direct Care

We utilize a comprehensive clinical suite including CBT, DBT, RO-DBT, EMDR, and Pain Reprocessing Therapy. Our focus is targeting root causes rather than just managing surface-level symptoms.

Trusted Network

We maintain a strictly vetted circle of peer specialists across Utah and California. If our specific expertise isn't the perfect match, we personally facilitate a warm hand-off to a clinician who is.

Strategic Coaching

Available globally for clients outside our clinical jurisdiction. We provide high-level, non-clinical strategy for executive performance, burnout recovery, and navigating high-stakes professional transitions.

Our Mission

Return to the Tribe.

Evolution did not design us to be alone. Yet, the high-achiever often isolates themselves, believing that vulnerability is a liability.

We often believe we must feel safe before we can connect. But our biology tells a different story: We feel safe because we are connected.

Our mission is to bring the outlier back to the tribe. Whether you are a CEO, an artist, or a parent, you have a seat at this table. It is time to stop performing and start connecting.

FAQs

What is Radically Open DBT?
RO-DBT is a specialized treatment for "Over-Control." It is designed for individuals who are highly disciplined and successful but secretly struggle with rigidity, loneliness, or perfectionism. Unlike standard talk therapy, it focuses on social signaling and psychological flexibility.
Why don't you accept insurance?
We are out-of-network by design. This ensures zero insurance claims, no diagnosis filed with third parties, and no arbitrary treatment limits. We can provide a detailed Superbill for you to submit for reimbursement.
Can my employer see my records?
Absolutely not. Because we do not bill insurance, there is no paper trail to your HR department or insurance provider. Your attendance, diagnosis, and clinical notes remain completely siloed from your professional life.
Where are you licensed?
Clinical Therapy is strictly limited to residents of California and Utah. However, our RO-DBT Skills Classes and Executive Coaching are educational services available to clients in over 40 states and internationally.
Who is your typical client?
We work exclusively with high-functioning professionals. This includes Founders, Attorneys, Physicians, and Executives who need a discreet space to address burnout, chronic pain, or relationship dynamics without the bureaucracy of traditional clinics.
What if the fit isn't right?
The alliance is everything. If the connection doesn't feel right, we view it as data, not failure. We will personally facilitate a transition to a colleague or outside referral who better matches your style and needs.
What are your session formats?
We offer three tiers of engagement: Standard (50 min) for weekly maintenance, Extended (90 min) for complex deep work, and Intensives (3-6 hours) for rapid breakthrough sessions, particularly for EMDR and Pain Reprocessing.
Do you offer intensive sessions?
Yes. For clients flying in or needing rapid resolution, we offer half-day and full-day intensives. These are particularly effective for bypassing the "warm-up" phase of therapy and getting straight to the root cause.
How do the Skills Classes work?
The RO-DBT Skills Class is a 30-week curriculum run in condensed 12-week cycles. It serves as a "classroom" for learning the mechanics of connection. You do not need to be an individual therapy client to join a class.
Do you prescribe medication?
We focus exclusively on psychotherapy and behavioral change. While we do not prescribe, we collaborate closely with your existing psychiatrist or can refer you to trusted medical colleagues for medication management.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Because we do not double-book and session times are reserved exclusively for you, late cancellations are charged at the full session rate.
How quickly can I start?
We prioritize quality placement over speed, but most clients begin within one week of their consultation. The first step is a brief intake call to ensure our clinical expertise is the precise fit for your needs.

Our Story

Work & Life, Integrated.

We often tell our clients that success shouldn't come at the cost of connection. We built The Wise Mind Group to practice what we preach.

As a husband-and-wife team raising three children, we realized that the traditional "work-life balance" is a myth. The goal isn't to balance them; it is to integrate them. We wanted to build a practice that allowed us to do deep, meaningful work while remaining present for the moments that actually matter.

We bring this same philosophy to our clients. Whether we are navigating clinical complexity or operational strategy, our goal is to help you build a life that doesn't need to be compartmentalized to be enjoyed.
